St. Louis – Truman State scored a pair of goals in the first half and added an insurance goal in the second half as the Bulldogs defeated the Maryville women's soccer team 3-0 on Senior Day at Maryville Field.
Truman (12-1-3, 11-1-2 GLVC) opened the scoring in the 33
rd minute when Stephanie Williams slotted in a shot off the right post to give the Bulldogs a 1-0. Erica Atnip capitalized on a Maryville defensive miscue to score on a breakaway in the 42
nd minute to give Truman a 2-0 lead.
Atnip added her second goal of the afternoon in the 77
th minute on a shot from the left side of the box to give Truman a 3-0 lead and the victory.
The Saints were outshot in the match 11-4 with all four of those shots being on frame.
Kayla Torry and three other Saints had a shot in the game.
Maryville (6-10-0, 5-9-0 GLVC) wraps up the season on Wednesday, Oct. 26, as the Saints travel to cross-town rival University of Missouri-St. Louis. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
