St. Louis – Maryville's women's soccer team fell behind early and could not mount a comeback as the University of Wisconsin – Parkside defeated the Saints 3-1 Friday afternoon at Maryville Field.
 
The Rangers (6-4-1, 6-3-0 GLVC) struck first as Lexi Porter scored from six yards out to give UW-Parkside a 1-0 lead in the 17^th minute. The Rangers controlled the tempo early on and out shot Maryville 5-1 in the first half.
 
UW-Parkside extended the lead to 2-0 as Vianey Hernandez scored from five yards to give the Rangers a 2-0 advantage in the 54^th minute. The Saints rallied four minutes later as Montana Krause found the net off a deflection to cut the Ranger lead to 2-1. The Saints continued to press as they had nine shots in the second half, but the Rangers scored an insurance goal in the 89^th minute to claim the victory.
 
Maryville (4-7-0, 3-6-0 GLVC) returns to the pitch this Sunday, Oct. 9, as the Saints will play host to Lewis at Maryville Field. Start time is set for noon.
