Hot-hitting Truman State downed the Maryville volleyball team in three straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-23 Friday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. The Saints are back in action Saturday when they host Quincy for a 3 p.m. contest.

The Bulldogs came out blazing with a .414 hitting percentage to grab set one. The Saints were down 6-4 before a TSU error and a
Cassidy Arndt kill tied the score at 6-6. Truman answered with four straight points to take the lead. Maryville closed the gap to 13-12 on a
Zoe Zeiter kill before the Bulldogs used another 4-0 to grab control. In set two,
Kara Wright had a kill to deadlock the score at 2-2 until Truman tallied four consecutive points. The Saints kept the Bulldogs within reach before Truman went on a 4-0 run and eventually a double-digit lead en route to a 2-0 edge.

Set three featured eight ties and five lead changes as the Saints looked to extend the match. Maryville was down 6-4 but jumped ahead on three straight points, capped by a Wright kill. Truman answered with a 3-0 run before the Saints came right back with four straight points. Wright started the run with a kill, and Zeiter followed with another. Wright then served back-to-back aces for an 11-9 lead. Truman scored but kills by
Emma Basler and Selman combined with a TSU error pushed the Saints ahead 14-10. The Bulldogs closed the gap to one before Arndt smashed in a kill, and
Makayla Campbell served up two straight aces. Truman surged back with seven straight points but the Saints charged back. After a TSU error, Wright's kill drew the Saints to 20-19. Maryville appeared to be in trouble down 23-19 yet responded with four straight points. Lakin had a kill, and
Michelle Escue notched an ace. Kills by Zeiter and
Maggie Murphy tied the set at 23-all. However, Truman tallied the final two points to close out the match.

Selman led the Saints with eight kills, while Murphy recorded 10 digs. Kayla Bastian led Truman State (6-11, 5-3 GLVC) with 10 kills and 15 sets. The Bulldogs finished with a .357 hitting percentage. The Saints slide to 2-15 overall, 1-7 in the league.
