Crete, Neb. - The Maryville wrestling team took a small squad to the Doane Open in Crete, Neb., and earned six placers. Zeb Wahle posted a perfect 5-0 mark to win the 184-pound classification to highlight the Saints efforts.

At 133, Dakota Bauer won his first four matches before falling in the finals to take second place. Dustin Politte took fifth place at 197 pounds as he went 4-1 on the day. A trio of Saints all posted records of 3-2 and took sixth place in their weight classes. Alex Waggoner represented the Saints at 125 pounds, while Tyler Harrington did the same at 174. In the heavyweights, Mickey Pelfrey also posted a 3-2 mark to earn his sixth place.

Two Saints also picked up third-place finishes as unattached competitors. Maryville finishes up action in the 2016 calendar year at the Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis Dec. 17-18.
