Louisville, Ky. - The Maryville women's basketball team put three players in double figures but could not slow down the Bellarmine attack as the host Knights recorded a 78-59 victory in Louisville, Ky., Saturday afternoon.

The Knights held a 16-10 lead but the Saints went on a 10-2 run to grab the lead. Kailyn Rozell knocked down a 3-pointer to start the run, and Ali Ringering scored a layup. After a BU bucket, Ellen Foster hit a jumper and Rozell's triple gave the Saints a 20-18 lead.

However, the Knights scored the last basket of the first quarter and the first nine of the second to jump to a 29-20 lead at the 6:35 mark. Alex Hillyer stopped the run with a jumper but Bellarmine soon built a double-digit lead and took a 41-30 lead at halftime.

A slow start to the third quarter found the Saints trailing 49-30 before Stephanie Sherwood rattled in a 3-pointer. Maryville was down 16 after three and still faced a 66-51 deficit before making one final push. Foster scored inside, and Ringering hit one free throw. An Alex Wolf layup pulled the Saints to within 66-56 with just under six minutes to play. Foster scored to make it 68-58 but that was close as the Saints could get.

Foster finished with 12 points and added five assists to pace the Saints (10-12 overall, 4-1 GLVC) attack. Hillyer and Wolf both added 10 points apiece, and Wolf snared a team-leading seven rebounds. The Saints held BU standout Sarah Galvin to seven points but Beth Bowers came off the bench to score 14 points as the Bellarmine (18-3, 12-3 GLVC) bench outscored the Saints reserves 51-21.

The Saints are next in action Thursday, Feb. 18, as they play their final road game of the season at Drury.
