Springfield, Mo. - The Maryville men's basketball team led by one point but Drury closed the game on an 11-1 run to down the Saints 78-69 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play Thursday night in Springfield, Mo.

Drury edged ahead 5-4 but back-to-back 3-pointers by
Marvin Grant-Clark and
Saikou Jallow built a 10-5 advantage for the Saints. The Panthers responded with a 9-0 run to snare a four-point lead. Maryville was down 20-16 before dialing up the long ball as consecutive triples by
Damyan Stoyanov and
Grant Sims handed the Saints a 22-20 edge. Later in the half, Max Mishkulnig threw down a dunk and had a layup off feeds from Jallow for a 31-29 lead with just over five minutes left in the first half. Grant-Clark scored on a reverse layup as Maryville took a 35-33 cushion but Drury used a 9-2 run to close the half and take a 42-35 lead at intermission.

The Saints were still down 44-37 but scored 10 straight points to surge ahead.
Forrester Sims drilled a 3-pointer, and Grant-Clark had a three-point sequence. After a Max Mischkulnig jumper in the lane, Karson King hit a layup for a 47-44 Maryville lead at the 16:24 mark of the second half. Drury tallied four straight points before Stoyanov splashed in a wing 3-pointer, and Grant Sims followed with a trey from the left corner for a 53-48 edge with 13 minutes to play. The Panthers retook a 54-53 lead using a 6-0 run but Grant-Clark's free throw tied the game 54-54 at the midpoint of the second half. The teams traded the lead and
Karson King's layup gave the Saints a 59-58 lead with 7:14 to play. Drury answered with a 6-0 to take the lead but a Forrester Sims tripled trimmed the deficit to just 64-62. The Panthers again pushed out to a 67-62 lead before the Saints made six straight free throws, the last two by Forrester Sims, to grab a 68-67 lead with 4:06 remaining. However, Drury scored 11 of the next 12 points and went up by a 78-69 margin with just under two minutes to play.

Forrester Sims tallied 19 points, while Grant-Clark added 11 points. Jallow finished with 10 points, five assists and five rebounds. King topped the Saints with 10 rebounds. Kameron Bundy scored a game-high 22 points for the Panthers.

The Saints stand at 9-17 overall, 3-13 in the GLVC. Drury is now 17-7, 12-4 in the league. The Saints start a two-game homestand to end the regular season Saturday, Feb. 20, as the Saints host Missouri S&T for a 3 p.m. tipoff at Moloney Arena.
