Alex Hillyer tallied a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while
Stephanie Sherwood led the team with 20 points to power the Saints to a 69-54 victory over Missouri S&T Saturday afternoon at Moloney Arena.

Down 2-1, the Saints score seven straight points to take a lead they would not surrender. Hillyer scored on a layup and
Ali Ringering tallied up close.
Carly Frala's 3-pointer built an 8-2 edge. After Missouri S&T scored, the Saints went on a 7-0 burst. Hillyer hit a jumper, and Sherwood nailed a triple. Two free throws by Frala were good for a 15-4 lead. The Lady Miners cut into the lead before the Saints settled for a 27-22 advantage after the first.

Missouri S&T eventually tied the game in the second quarter but the Saints scored nine straight points for a 36-27 cushion. Sherwood started the run with two free throws, and Ringering hit for a layup. After a Sherwood 3-pointer, Hillyer scored inside for a 36-37 advantage. Maryville took a 41-33 lead at the half.

The Saints score six of the first seven points after intermission and kept a double-digit lead the rest of the quarter. A 9-1 run late pushed the Maryville lead to as much as 18. The Saints took their largest lead of the game at 68-49 and held the Lady Miners at bay for the victory.

Sherwood, who scored recorded her career high of 24 points in the first game at Missouri S&T, nailed five 3-pointers. Hillyer made half of her 14 shots and also blocked five shots while recording her double-double. Ringering added 15 points, while Frala had five assists. Bria Piece led Missouri S&T (8-16, 4-13 GLVC) with a game-high 23 points.

The Saints improve to 11-13 overall, 5-12 in the league. Maryville hosts its regular-season finale Thursday, Feb. 25, as they welcome crosstown-rival UMSL for #1000Saints Night.
