Evansville, IN – Southern Indiana scored late in the match to tie Maryville and then scored the winning goal in the second overtime session to edge the Saints 2-1.
The Saints got on the scoreboard first in the 38
th minute as

Joergen Pettersen on the right wing and Pettersen drilled home his first goal of the year to give Maryville a 1-0 advantage. Southern Indiana had many chances through-out the half, but Saints goalkeeper
Christian Kjaersgaard kept the Screaming Eagles at bay as Maryville took that 1-0 advantage to the locker room.
Southern Indiana (3-1-0, 1-1-0 GLVC) had a few opportunities early in the second half, but Kjaersgaard continued his solid play between the pipes. The Screaming Eagles finally found the net in the 80th minute as Sean Rickey slid a shot just past a diving Kjaersgaard to tie things up at 1-1.
Both teams played to even terms in the first extra session, but the Justin Brooks netted the game-winner from 6-yards out on the right wing in the 105
th minute to give the Screaming Eagles the victory.
Maryville (2-2-0, 0-2-0 GLVC) returns to action this coming Friday, September 16
th as McKendree University comes to Maryville Field starting at 2:30 p.m.
