St. Louis – The Maryville men's soccer team surrendered a pair of early goals in the first half as the Saints fell to Illinois Springfield 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field.
 
The Prairie Stars (3-3-0, 3-1-0 GLVC) took an early advantage when Harry Hiscock found lofted a pass inside the box as Josh Moore put a shot past Saints goalkeeper Christian Kjaersgaard to give UIS a 1-0 in the 18th minute. The Prairie Stars found the back of the net again in the 25th as Mario Falsone hit a drive from 17-yards out to give UIS to a 2-0 lead.
 
Pontus Gitselov paced the Saints with three shots on the afternoon while Sander Heieren added two more in the loss.
 
The Saints (2-3-0, 0-3-0 GLVC) return to Maryville Field this coming Friday, Sept. 23, as GLVC rival William Jewell comes to town. The match will begin at 5 p.m.
