St. Louis – Rockhurst University scored a goal in the early portion of the game and held on to defeat Maryville 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field.
The Hawks, ranked #23 in the latest Division II poll, scored the only goal of the match in the 10
th minute as Brandi Vollmer scored off a corner kick that was deflected in to give the Rockhurst (8-0-1, 5-0-1 GLVC) a 1-0 lead.
The Hawks outshot Maryville 15-5 on the afternoon with
Ali Riddle making nine saves in the losing cause for the Saints.
Maryville (3-5-0, 2-4 GLVC) continue play in the Great Lakes Valley Conference as they travel to Springfield, Mo. to take on Drury on Friday, Sept. 30. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
