Allison Verville scored with just over a minute left in regulation to lift the Maryville Saints women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Drury on the road in Springfield, Mo., Friday evening.
After both teams battled for more than 85 minutes, Maryville took advantage of a foul outside the 18-yard box. Verville placed a perfect ball that hit the bottom of the crossbar and fell into the goal to give the Saints the 1-0 advantage in the 89
th minute.
Maryville held a 14-8 advantage in shots over Drury (3-5-1, 1-5-1 GLVC) on the evening. Freshman goalkeeper
Ali Riddle earned her third shutout of the year for the Saints while Verville and
Ashley Pogue each added four shots in the Maryville win.
Maryville (4-5-0, 3-4-0 GLVC) continues their two-game road trip Sunday, Oct. 2, as the Saints travel to Rolla to take on Missouri S&T. Game time is set for noon.
