Kansas City, Mo.
- Stephanie Sherwood scored a game-high 18 points as the Maryville women's basketball team notched its second straight road victory, this time a 68-65 overtime win at Rockhurst.

The Saints held a narrow 35-34 lead at halftime but Rockhurst took the lead early after intermission and was up 47-43. The Maryville defense clamped down as the Saints used an 11-2 lead to surge ahead. Mary Barton scored on a layup, and Sherwood's 3-pointer pushed the Saints ahead 48-47. The Hawks made two free throws before back-to-back triples by Kayla Steward and Sherwood handed the Saints a 54-49 edge. The Saints took their biggest lead at 59-52 on a Barton jumper. Maryville was still up 63-58 before Rockhurst scored the last five points of regulation to force overtime.

Rockhurst took the lead on a Morgan Harwood jumper to start the extra session. Barton had the answer to tie the game at 65-all.  Neither team scored until Barton was fouled at the 1:48 mark, and she knocked down two charity tosses for a 67-65 lead. The Maryville defense forced a miss, and Alex Wolf grabbed the carom. Barton split a pair at the line for a 68-65 lead. The Hawks had a final look from deep that would have forced a second overtime but the shot was errant at the buzzer as the Saints escaped with the win. Maryville swept the William Jewell-Rockhurst road swing for the first time since February 2012.

Sherwood hit three 3-pointer, all three free-throw attempts and came up with four steals on the afternoon. Ali Ringering sank all of her 3-point attempts and finished with 13 points. Amanda Ponce added 10 points, while Wolf narrowly missed a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Marissa Lowe led four Rockhurst (12-6, 7-4 GLVC) players in double figures with 17 points.

The Saints even their record at 9-9 and stand at 5-6 in the GLVC. Maryville is next in action as they make the short trek to Lebanon, Ill., to take on McKendree Thursday, Feb. 2.
