St. Louis – The Drury University women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in the first half en route to defeat Maryville 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
What Happened – After the Panthers opened the scoring in the eighth minute to take a 1-0 lead,
Allison Verville drilled a free kick into the top right corner of the net to even the match at 1-1 in the 20
th minute . Drury regained the lead with a goal in the 42nd minute to take a 2-1 advantage. The Panthers added an insurance goal in the 66
th minute to extend their lead to 3-1.
Inside the Numbers – The goal for Verville was her third of the season. The Saints outshot the Panthers 12-9 on the afternoon with six shots being on goal.
How They Stand – Maryville falls to 7-3-2 overall and 6-2-2 in the GLVC while the Panthers improve to 6-5-1 overall and 4-5-0 in the GLVC.
