The Maryville volleyball looked to close out Senior Day with a victory but visiting Quincy kept the Saints at bay to take a 3-0 victory Friday evening. The Hawks won with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-19.

What Happened
The opening set was tied at 8-8 before a tip by
Addison Plant was good for a 9-8 Maryville lead. The Hawks scored three straight to jump ahead. The Saints tied the score at 12-12 on an ace by Plant before QU scored four straight. The Saints got as close as 19-16 on a kill by
Ashley Selman but Quincy held on.

In the second, Quincy took the early lead and stretched the edge out to 17-11. The Saints responded with three straight.
Allison Lakin had a kill, and
Cassidy Arndt followed. A QU error pulled the Saints to 17-14. Maryville made a late push on a 4-1 run and drew to 20-18 before the Hawks took the set.

Quincy grabbed a 6-2 lead before the Saints tallied three straight. After a Lakin kill, QU committed an error, and Plant added another kill for a 6-5 deficit. Still down 9-7, Maryville jumped ahead with three in-a-row. After a QU service error and a hitting miscue,
Taylor Schellert drilled a kill to push the Saints ahead 10-9. Quincy used a 4-1 run to take the lead back. The Saints got back to 13-12 on a kill by Lakin but Maryville was never able to pull level.
