In the first game in program history, the Maryville men's lacrosse team hosted Hendrix College Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field. The visiting Warriors downed the Saints 7-2 as Maryville's newest sport made its debut.

The Warriors scored the first goal at the 9:22 mark of the first period and tacked on two more scores.
Zach Steltzer tallied the first goal in Maryville history as he found the back of the net at the 1:19 mark of the first to get the Saints on the scoreboard. In the second,
Nick Witte scored his first goal as Maryville cut the Hendrix lead down to 3-2 at 10:54. However, the Warriors scored the last three goals for a 6-2 lead at halftime.

Both defenses tightened up in the second half before Hendrix added a score five minutes after the break. Neither team scored the rest of the way as the game ended with a final 7-2 decision. Saints goalie
William DeVinney made 15 saves on the day.

The Saints are back in action next Sunday, Feb. 19, as nationally-ranked Tampa comes to town for a Noon game.
