Missouri S&T boxscore in S&T

Jimmy Barton had a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists as the Maryville men's basketball team put six players in double figures in an 89-79 victory over Missouri S&T on Senior Day. The Saints shot 65.5 percent in the second half to pull away from the Miners.

Anthony Johnson scored to open the second half, and
Jeff Leeson splashed in a 3-pointer to give the Saints a 40-35 lead. The Miners stayed close and eventually tied the game at 51-all. The teams traded the lead and Missouri S&T took a lead at 59-58 with 11:23 to play. The Saints surged ahead with eight straight points and would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.
Karson King had a three-point play to start the decisive run.
Grant Sims scored inside, and Barton drained a 3-pointer from the right side for a 66-59 advantage with 9:37 remaining. The Miners scored a basket before Leeson sank a deep 3-pointer and threw down a dunk for a 73-64 cushion. The visitors got as close as 73-65 with seven minutes to go but Barton hit a short jumper to restore a double-digit lead. Maryville pushed the advantage to as much as 15 to close out the home portion of the season on a high note.

Barton reached double figures in assists for the second time this season in posting his second double-double of the year. Johnson, Leeson and Grant Sims all finished with 13 points.
Evan Booker and Forrester Sims notched 10 points apiece. Booker also snared a game-high eight rebounds. The Miners (11-13, 5-12 GLVC) had five players score in double figures themselves.

The Saints improve to 9-20 overall, 3-14 in the GLVC. Maryville ends the regular season Thursday, Feb. 23, at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
