Denver - The Maryville men's lacrosse team pulled to within one goal late in the third quarter but Westminster (Utah) used a big final quarter to pull away for a 13-6 win Saturday in a game played at Colorado College.

The Griffins scored the first three goals of the contest before
Nick Witte fired in Maryville's first score with 31 seconds left in the first. Defenses clamped down as neither team scored in the first 10 minutes of the second before Westminster found the back of the net.
Jacob Campbell answered for the Saints, his 10th on the season, to get Maryville to within 4-2. However, the Griffins scored late in the quarter for a 5-2 lead at the break.

Witte tallied his second of the game off a feed from
Justin Amling at the 10:30 mark of the third.
Tristan Snellgrove made it two straight scores for the Saints as their trimmed their deficit to just 5-4. Westminster responded with three unanswered goals to go back up 8-4. Campbell netted his second goal as Maryville again cut the Westminster lead down to 8-5. However, the Griffins went on a 5-0 burst to put the game away. Campbell completed a hat trick as he scored in the final minute for the final tally.

William DeVinney amassed 16 saves on the day for the Saints (0-12 overall, 0-9 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference). Jacob Taylor led Westminster (5-5 overall, 4-3 RMAC) with three goals and one assist.

The Saints are next in action Saturday, April 22, as they travel to Rockhurst for their final conference contest.
