St. Louis – The Maryville University women's soccer team rallied from a one goal deficit at halftime to claim a 2-1 victory over Lindenwood University Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Saints wrapped up the exhibition season with a 2-0-1 record.
What Happened – The Lions took a 1-0 advantage in to the halftime locker room with a goal in the 39
th minute, but the Saints stormed back in the second half.
Amanda Kaltwasser took a crossing pass from
Allison Verville and found the back of the net in the 54
th minute to tie the match at 1-1. Maryviile grabbed the lead for good as
Erin Ginsberg netted the game winner on a breakaway in the 66
th minute to give the Saints a 2-1 lead. The defense then took command of the game over the final 23 minutes as Lindenwood was limited to only four shots on the afternoon.
Up Next – Maryville opens the regular season on Friday, September 1, as the Saints travel to St. Paul, Minn., to take on Concordia University. The match is slated to start at 7 p.m.
