Somers, Wis. – The Maryville University women's soccer team struck for a goal in the 75
th minute to defeat the University of Wisconsin – Parkside 1-0 Friday afternoon at the Wood Road Soccer Field in Somers, Wisc.
What Happened – After the two teams battled to a scoreless tie for over 74 minutes,
Caite Huesgen took a pass on the left wing and buried a shot from 12-yards out to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
Roni Norwood and
Allison Verville were credited with the assists on the game winning goal. Maryville's defense continued their strong play over the last 15 minutes as the Saints allowed only three shots to secure the road win.
Inside the Numbers – The goal for Huesgen was her second of the season, both game winners, while Verville added her fourth helper on the season.
How they stand – Maryville improves to 3-1-1 and 2-0-1 in the Great Lake Valley Conference while the Rangers fall to 1-5-0 and 0-3-0 in the GLVC.
