Romeoville, Ill. – The Maryville University women's soccer team fell behind in the first half and could not recover as the Saints fell to Lewis 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Ill.
What Happened – The Flyers scored a pair of goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead and added another goal in the 53
rd minute to extend the lead to 3-0. The Saints cut into the lead as
Mariah Loya took a centering pass from
Erika Cross to score her first goal of the year as it cut the Flyers lead to 3-1 in the 56
th minute. Lewis picked up an insurance goal in the 67
th minute to seal the victory.
Inside the Numbers – The Saints out shot Lewis 19-12 with 11 of those shots being on goal.
How they stand – Maryville falls to 3-2-1 and 2-1-1 in the Great Lake Valley Conference while the Flyers improve to 3-3-0 and 2-2-0 in the GLVC.
