Box Score St. Paul, Minn. – The Maryville University women's soccer team earned their first win of the year with a 2-1 victory in double overtime over the University of Minnesota-Crookston Sunday afternoon in St. Paul, Minn.
What Happened – Erin Ginsberg opened the scoring for the Saints after taking a pass from
Amanda Kaltwasser in the second minute of action to give Maryville an early 1-0 advantage. After the Golden Eagles evened the match at 1-1 in the 25
th minute, the game turned into a defensive battle until the second overtime.
Caite Huesgen sent the Saints home with the victory in the 104
th minute as she took a pass from
Ashley Pogue and buried it into the corner of the net for the 2-1 win. Maryville had many scoring chances in the game as they outshot the Golden Eagles 31-6.
Up Next – Maryville returns home to open Great Lakes Valley Conference play Friday, Sept. 8, as the Saints welcome Bellarmine to Maryville Field. The match is set to start at 5 p.m.
