Evansville, Ind. – After gaining the lead late in the first half, the Maryville men's soccer team could not hold on as the Saints dropped a 2-1 decision to Southern Indiana Friday evening at Strassweg Field in Evansville, Ind.
What Happened – The two teams battled on even terms until
Grady Schliepsiek took a pass from
Ben Brodie and slotted a shot past a diving goalkeeper to give Maryville a 1-0 lead in the

th minute. The Screaming Eagles answered with a little more than a minute left in the half with header off a corner kick to tie the match at 1-1. Southern Indiana took the lead in the 56
th minute with a goal off another header to put them ahead 2-1 as they held on to claim the win.
Inside the Numbers – The Screaming Eagles held an 18-13 edge in shotswith the Saints putting six of those shots on goal.
Helmut Florencia and
Mirza Hasecic each had three shots to lead the Maryville offense.
