St. Louis – Despite holding a 10-4 advantage in shots, the Maryville men's soccer team fell to McKendree 3-2 in double overtime Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field on Senior Day.
What Happened – The Bearcats opened the scoring with a goal in the 27th minute to grab an early 1-0 lead. The Saints pulled even with McKendree just three minutes later as
Helmut Florencia buried a header off a corner kick from
Gavino Carranza from 7-yards out to tie the game at 1-1. McKendree scored in the 36th minute to regain the lead at 2-1. The Saints once again tied the match in the 59th minute as
Grady Schliepsiek hit a strike from 28-yards out to put the game at 2-2. The game remained tied until McKendree scored in the 103rd minute to earn the win.
Inside the Numbers – The Saints did not yield a shot in the second half until the game-winner in overtime. Maryville out shot the Bearcats 10-8 with eight shots being on goal. Florencia paced the Maryville offense with three shots.

McKendree – 8-4-1, 6-3-1 GLVC
