Quincy, Ill. – Despite a pair of goals by
Amanda Kaltwasser in the first half of the match, the Maryville women's soccer team fell to Quincy 5-2 Friday evening at Legends Stadium in Quincy, Ill.
What Happened – After the Hawks scored in the 20
th minute to take a 1-0 lead, Kaltwasser scored twice in a span of seven minutes to give Maryville a 2-1 advantage. Her first goal came in the 29
th minute as she took a touch from
Claudia King and scored from 15-yards out to even the match at 1-1. Kaltwasser then scored in the 36
th minute as she placed a header past the goalkeeper to give the Saints a 2-1 lead. The Hawks evened the contest in the 4st
tminute with a goal off a corner kick to make the score 2-2. Quincy quickly grabbed the lead with a pair of goals in the first six minutes of the second half to take a 4-2 lead. The Hawks tacked on a goal late in the match to secure the victory.
Inside the Numbers – The Hawks held a 13-8 advantage in shots over the Saints. Kaltwasser and
Mariah Loya each had two shots each to pace the Maryville attack.
