The Maryville men's basketball team sank half of its shots in the first half while limiting Hannibal-LaGrange to just 25 percent as the Saints rolled to a 78-47 triumph. The victory is the third straight for the Saints to open the season.
 
What Happened
Up 10-9, the Saints reeled off 22 straight points to take command of the game. Maryville made seven of 10 shots while forcing seven straight misses and five turnovers. At the 13:29 mark, Jerome Davis started the run with a bucket, and Casey Teson drained a 3-pointer. After another Davis bucket, Chaz Glotta splashed in a 3-pointer for a 19-9 edge. Eugene Jones scored on a layup, and Glotta rained in another triple. Maryville made three free throws, and Robin Thompson powered up for a basket in traffic. Glotta's 3-pointer extended the advantage to 32-9 with 6:58 left in the first half. Later, Maryville hit three straight 3-pointers and two more hoops built a 45-16 lead in the final minute of the half.
 
In the second half, the Saints kept a comfortable margin the entire way. The lead grew to as much as 31 points as the Saints posted a 3-0 start for the second straight season.
