The Maryville women's basketball team set a school record with 40 points in the fourth quarter to rally past Northwest Missouri State 87-78 Saturday afternoon in Moloney Arena. The Saints hit 10-of-15 shots from the field, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range, in the quarter to win their home opener.
Kayla Steward poured in a career-high 24 points to pace the victory.

What Happened
The Saints were down 44-29 with eight minutes left in the third quarter but chipped away at the deficit.
Erin Lenahan scored in the lane, and a 3-pointer by
Kayla Steward brought Maryville to 47-40. Early in the fourth,
UU Longs made one free throw, and Lenahan sank a layup to trim the margin to five. The Bearcats still led 65-59 before the Saints embarked on an 11-0 burst to surge ahead. Steward drilled a 3-pointer, and two free throws by
Jayda Jansen tied the game 65-65 with 4:46 to play. Longs sank a triple from the wing to push the Saints ahead by three. Jansen converted two free throws for a 70-65 Maryville margin. The Saints were still up 74-69 but Jansen scored on a layup, and Barton hit a 3-pointer and a 79-69 advantage. Maryville took its largest lead of the game in the final minute at 82-71 and closed out the win.
