At the UMSL Thanksgiving Classic, the Maryville men's basketball team lost an 83-76 decision against Central Missouri. Casey Teson poured in 24 points and grabbed six rebounds to pace the Saints.
What Happened
The Saints were down 19-9 but rallied with a 9-2 run. Central Missouri held a 30-27 lead with 1:44 left in the half before the Saints scored the last six points. Jordan Gary scored consecutive buckets, and Casey Teson hit a layup at the buzzer for a 33-30 lead.
UCM took a small edge early in the second half and were leading 46-42 with 14:32 to play. Teson nailed a jumper, and the Saints took a 47-46 advantage after a Chaz Glotta 3-pointer. A Jerome Davis layup pushed the edge to 49-46 with 12 minutes left. UCM tied the game at 49-49 before the Saints scored eight of the next 10 points. Glotta hit a triple, and Davis converted in the lane. Bobby Harvey sank a 3-pointer for a 57-51 cushion with 10:19 left.
The game was tied three more times, the last at 61-all after a Gary bucket. Central Missouri retook the lead on a 3-pointer. Harvey answered with a layup as the Saints closed to 64-63. The Mules pushed the lead out to 77-70 before the Saints rallied. Glotta had a three-point play, and a triple by Teson pulled the Saints to 79-76 with 53 seconds to play. UCM scored a basket with 21 ticks left and iced the game with two free throws.
