Illinois Springfield used a hot-shooting second half to rally for an 85-70 victory over the Maryville men's basketball team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams.
Casey Teson paced the Saints with 16 points and tied his career high with nine rebounds. Maryville forced UIS to just a 38.2 percent field goal mark in the first half, but the visitors hit at a 54.8 percent clip after halftime.

What Happened
The Prairie Stars led 20-13 before
Casey Teson hit two free throws to start a 14-3 run.
Chaz Glotta was fouled on a 3-pointer and sank all three at the stripe. The teams traded scores before
Robin Thompson sank a layup. Glotta hit a triple, and Thompson's layup gave the Saints a 27-23 lead at the 8:31 mark of the first half.
Dezmond McDaniel splashed in a 3-pointer, and a Thompson free throw helped the Saints take their biggest lead of the night at 37-27. Maryville was still up 41-31 before settling for a 43-38 lead at the break.

The Saints were still up 56-50 with 13:41 left to play before UIS rallied with nine straight points. Thompson sank one free throw but the Prairie Stars made consecutive 3-pointers. Teson feed Thompson and McDaniel for back-to-back scores to cut the gap to 65-61. UIS answered with two straight buckets. The Saints made a charge at the line and hit five straight charity tosses to close the deficit down to 71-67. However, Peyton Allen hit a long 3-pointer and another UIS score was good for a 76-67 lead. The Prairie Stars sealed the win in the final minutes at the free-throw line.
