McKendree's Nate Michael hit a jumper with 4.3 seconds left to defeat the Maryville men's basketball team 84-83 in a heartbreaker for the Saints Saturday afternoon. The Saints overcame a four-point deficit with 1:19 left in the game after a
Casey Teson sank a 3-pointer and a layup to give the Saints an 83-82 lead with 19.8 seconds to play. Maryville had five players score in double figures.Teson had 16 points, while
Robin Thompson added 13 points.
Jordan Gary finished with 12 points, with
Dezmond McDaniel and
Chaz Glotta finishing with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

What Happened
The Saints were up 25-21 but used an 11-2 burst to take their biggest lead of the game.
Jordan Gary made a layup, but
Bobby Harvey nailed a 3-pointer. After a McKendree basket, Gary answered with a jumper, and
Chaz Glotta made two free throws.
Robin Thompson scored on a layup to push the Maryville lead to 36-23. The Saints took a 45-37 lead into halftime.

Maryville held a 47-41 edge and went on a 6-0 run. Teson converted to at the charity stripe, and
Eugene Jones made a jumper. A Thompson layup was good for a 53-41 lead with 16 minutes to play. McKendree tied the game at 62-all, and took a 65-62 lead with 7:39 to play. Maryvile retook the advantage with a 3-point play by
Jerome Davis and a jumper by McDaniel for a 67-65 margin. McKendree went ahead 71-67 but the Saints again responded and went up 74-72 after three free throws by Glotta. The Bearcats used a 7-2 run to take an 82-78 lead. After a Teson triple, McDaniel came up with a steal and fed Teson for a layup with 35 seconds to play and set up the frantic finish.
