Stephanie Sherwood fired in 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds to pace the Maryville women's basketball team to an 80-76 win over Ferris State Saturday afternoon in Moloney Arena.
Mary Barton recorded her first career double-double with 13 points and a career-high 11 assists.

What Happened
The Saints built a nine-point lead early in the second quarter but Ferris State rallied to tie the game.
Brooklyn Chaffin hit a jumper at the end of the half as the Saints took a 37-35 lead into the break. The third quarter was close throughout as the lead changed hands five times. The Bulldogs were up 53-51 before a
Hunter Stidham three-point play boosted the Saints to a 54-53 edge.
Abby Monis scored for a three-point lead. In the final minute, Sherwood drilled a long 3-pointer but FSU scored last as Maryville led 61-59 leading into the fourth quarter.

Maryville was till leading 67-65 before Sherwood splashed another triple. Ferris State scored a layup prior to
Erin Lenahan hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key for a 73-67 edge with 4:24 remaining. Ferris State closed the gap to 74-73 at the 1:21 mark.
Mary Barton hit a wing jumper to push the Saints ahead 76-73 with 52 seconds left. The Saints drew a charging foul as Sherwood stepped in to cause the turnover on the next Ferris possession. Barton sank two free throws before the Maryville defense forced a miss. Lenahan made one free throw with 18 seconds to go, and
Jayda Jansen sealed the win with one free throw with 11.1 seconds to play.
Stidham finished with 14 points and six rebounds to go along with four steals. Five of Sherwood's nine rebounds came on the offensive end. En route to her 11 assists, Barton did not commit any turnovers.
