Stephanie Sherwood scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds but the Maryville women's basketball team saw a late rally come up short as Southern Indiana escaped with an 84-77 win. Sherwood led four Saints in double figures as Mary Barton had 11 points, while Abby Monis and Erin Lenahan both chipped in 10. The loss snapped Maryville's two-game winning streak.
 
What Happened
The Screaming Eagles held a 66-55 edge going into the fourth quarter. Sherwood scored on a layup and nailed a jumper to open the final 10 minutes. UU Longs scored on a layup pull the Saints to 66-61 with 7:24 left. USI went back up by seven but a three-point play by Taylor Kirby cut the deficit to 68-64 at the 6:45 mark. Southern Indiana answered with seven straight points before a final Maryville rally. After one Longs free throw, Sherwood drained a triple and Erin Lenahan scored on a layup. On the next possession, Lenahan finished a three-point play to pull the Saints to 75-73 with 1:26 remaining. USI scored four-in-a-row until Lenahan sank two at the line to trim the gap to 81-77 with nine seconds left. USI sank three free throws to seal the win.
