Abby Monis notched her first double-double with career highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds to guide the Maryville women's basketball team to a 97-84 victory over Christian Brothers University. The 97 points were the most by the Saints since scoring 113 against Oakland City Dec. 1, 2013.

What Happened
Maryville scored the first eight points of the game to take early control and never surrendered the lead.
Stephanie Sherwood drilled a 3-pointer to open the game and followed with a layup. She closed out her personal 8-0 run with another trey for the 8-0 lead at the 8:55 mark. CBU finally got on the board with two free throws. Monis scored with two minutes left in the first quarter to start an 11-0 burst. She scored a layup, and
Mary Barton tacked on a drive, a 3-pointer and two free throws for a 31-18 lead.
Hunter Stidham opened the second with a 3-pointer as the Saints built their largest lead of the game at 34-18. CBU chipped away at the lead as Maryville took a 41-35 lead into halftime.

Monis had consecutive buckets at the beginning of the third quarter, and Maryville maintained a double-digit lead for most of the 10-minute span. The Saints took a 64-57 cushion to the fourth. The Lady Bucs closed to 67-61 but
Kayla Steward hit a jumper and Jaydan Jansen followed for a 71-61 edge with 7:59 to play. A Monis hoop stretched the advantage to 76-64 before CBU rallied. The margin stood at 82-76 at the 2:24 mark but Monis had a layup and Barton drained a 3-pointer for an 87-78 lead. The Saints sank eight free throws in the final minute to put the game away.
