Snellgrove Nets Three Goals as Saints Win Opener 9-8 Over Missouri Baptist

Summary
Tristan Snellgrove recorded three goals and an assist to pace the Maryville men's lacrosse team to a 9-8 victory in the season opener over Missouri Baptist Friday afternoon. Austin Myers tallied what would prove to be the game-winning goal with 21 seconds left in the game to seal the triumph.
                                                                         
What Happened
The Saints tallied the first two goals of the game by Brendan Cathers and Justin Amling. The Spartans scored late in the first and early in the second to tie the game. The Saints answered with four consecutive goals. Ty Wenck and Parker Lee found the back of the net, and Zach Steltzer and Snellgrove scored for a 6-2 lead at halftime.
 
The Spartans notched two goals in the first minute of the third period but the Saints answered with two straight goals by Snellgrove for an 8-4 lead. Missouri Baptist closed the gap to 8-6, and scored on a man-up to get to 8-7. Still down a man, Myers won a crucial faceoff and fired in a goal with 21 ticks to go for the eventual game winner. Missouri Baptist added a goal with 1.8 seconds left for the final score.
