Summary
The Maryville men's lacrosse team earned a measure of revenge by defeating Adams State 8-5 Wednesday afternoon. Last Saturday, ASU edged the Saints in Colorado, but the Saints took the rematch with a strong second half.
What Happened
After a scoreless first quarter, the teams traded matching 4-0 runs. Tristan Snellgrove broke the ice with a score just 1:45 into the second quarter to push the Saints ahead. Justin Amling tallied back-to-back goals, and Jai Benson's score built a 4-0 lead. However, the Grizzlies scored twice in the final minute to pull to 4-2 at halftime.
ASU opened the third with two goals to forge a 4-4 tie. The Saints responded when Maxwell Johnson fired in a shot in the final minute of the third quarter for a 5-4 edge. Parker Lee scored what would prove to be the eventual game winner at the 13:46 mark for a 6-4 advantage. ASU pulled one goal back but Jack Kilibarda and Snellgrove iced the game with two late scores.
