Alec Harris struck out six batters to earn his fifth win of the year in the nightcap to help the Maryville baseball team earn a split with Quincy University Friday. The Saints dropped the first game of the day, 4-3, while Harris tossed 6.1 innings of four-hit ball as Maryville defeated the Hawks 5-1 in the second game of the series.
Game one:
The Saints tallied a run in the first as
Drake Lubin opened the frame with a single and took second on a stolen base.
Louis Niemerg drilled an RBI single to center field to give Maryville a 1-0 edge. The Hawks grabbed the lead in the home half of the sixth with two runs, but the Saints answered back in the seventh.
Daniel Covert started the rally with a triple and scored on a groundout to tie the contest at 2-2.
Brennan Williams doubled a batter later and scored on a Niemerg double down the right field line to give Maryville a 3-2 advantage. The Hawks tied the game in the seventh and grabbed the lead with a run in the eighth for the 4-3 win.

Game two:
After the game remained scoreless through the first five innings of play, the Saints grabbed the lead in the sixth.
Cody Klotz smashed his third homer of the season to score Dominic Connolly as it gave Maryville a 2-0 lead. Klotz's home run set a new season mark for Maryville as the Saints have hit 34 homers on the campaign. The 2016 and 2017 teams previously held the record with 33 home runs.
Zack Ruckman provided the Saints with insurance runs in the seventh as he ripped a double to right center field to score
Dalton Schumer and Niemerg which gave Maryville a 4-0 advantage. Connolly hit a single to center field that pushed across Ruckman to extend the Maryville advantage to 5-0. The Hawks cut into the lead in the home half of the seventh as they scored a run and had the bases loaded with one out, before
Zach Morrisey came in to strike out the next two Quincy batters and earn his second save of the season.
