St. Louis – Saginaw Valley State pounded out 12 hits as the Cardinals defeated the Maryville University baseball team 7-3 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at Weber Field.

Maryville cracked the score board first as
Drake Lubin singled to center field and mover to second on a stolen base. Lubin scored on a
Brennan Williams single to right to give the Saints an early 1-0 lead. After the Cardinals knotted the game in the top of the second inning, the Saints grabbed the lead again as Matt Scheible singled and scored on a
Derek Renner double in the right center gap to give Maryville a 2-1 advantage. The Cardinals took control of the contest by scoring three runs in the third inning and adding two more in the fourth to take a 6-2 lead. The Saints tacked on a run in the eighth inning as
Tyler Catlett reached base on an error and scored on a Louis Neimerg double to make the score 6-3. Saginaw Valley State added an insurance run in the ninth en route to the weekend sweep.
