Summary
The Maryville volleyball team picked up the first victory of the
Gretchen Moser era as the Saints rolled past Arkansas-Monticello 3-1 Friday afternoon. The match was the second for the Saints at a tournament hosted by Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn.
Taylor Schellert and
Cassidy Arndt both posted 13 kills, while
Liz Eardly accounted for 12 kills.
What Happened
The Saints held UAM to just a .158 hitting percentage to take the first set 25-21. Maryville tallied 11 straight points and pounded down at a .464 clip to storm to a 25-9 win in the second set. UAM edged the Saints in the third and extend the match. However, Maryville kept a comfortable lead for most of the fourth set and hit .310 in the final to close out the win.
