Summary
The Maryville volleyball team began its season with a match at a tournament in Memphis, Tenn., hosted by Christian Brothers University. The Saints lost in three sets to the home squad Lady Bucs 25-16, 25-7, 25-17. Maryville plays Arkansas-Monticello later this afternoon.
 
What Happened
In the first set against Christian Brothers, the Saints had their best run with a 5-0 burst capped by Kayla Buxton's service ace to force a CBU timeout. The Lady Bucs held off the Maryville charge to take the set. CBU used an early 9-0 run to take control of the second set. In the final game, the Saints received kills from Kayla Nystedt and Liz Eardly, and a Taylor Luebbers ace cut the deficit to 22-15. However, CBU closed out the match to win the season opener.
