The Maryville volleyball team was looking to build a three-match winning streak but tournament host Kentucky Wesleyan ended the bid with a 25-11, 25-18 win to close the opening day of the KWC Invitational in Owensboro, Ky. Last week in Memphis, Tenn., the Saints rallied for a five-set win but were unable to duplicate the result on the road.

What Happened
The Saints hurt themselves with service errors as Kentucky Wesleyan jumped to the early 1-0 lead.
Maryville made a charge in set two using a 6-1 run and got as close as 21-16 before the Panthers prevailed. The Saints used two 3-1 runs and were trailing just 9-6 before KWC used a big burst to grab control of the match.
