Springfield, Mo. – The Maryville men's soccer team needed a late goal by
Iwan Webster to defeat Drury 2-1 Friday afternoon at Harrison Field in Springfield, Mo.
What Happened – After the two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half, the Saints broke through in the 70
th minute.
Helmut Florencia scored his second goal of the year with a shot from the left wing to stake Maryville to a 1-0 lead. The Panthers brought the game back to even with a goal in the 79
th minute to make the score 1-1. The Saints regained the lead in the 84
th minute as Webster placed a header off a free kick from
Eyob Tadesse past a diving goalkeeper to give Maryville a 2-1 advantage.
Inside the Numbers – The goal for Webster was his first of the year and his second career tally. Maryville held an 11-7 advantage in shots with three of those on goal.
Christian Kjaersgaard earned his second win of the year with a pair of saves.
