Allison Lakin and
Cassidy Arndt topped the Maryville volleyball team with seven kills apiece but Illinois Springfield defeated the Saints in three sets. UIS prevailed by set scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-20.
What Happened
The Saints tallied four straight points to cut into a set one deficit. Arndt had a kill followed by two uIS errors.
Olivia Thomas put down a kill to pull Maryville to 12-9. The Prairie Stars had a kill until
Faith Ahlhardt had a kill and Arndt served an ace to pull to Saints to 13-11. Lakin had a kill to keep Maryville to within three points but UIS eventually won the opener.

The Saints grabbed the lead in the second set by scoring four of the first five points. Ahlhardt had two kills to spark the run. A UIS serving error handed Maryville a 5-3 edge before the home squad took its first lead. A run midway through the set allowed the Prairie Stars to take a 2-0 lead.

Kayla Nystead had a kill as Maryville closed the UIS lead to 4-3. The Prairie Stars used a 5-0 to jump ahead. A kill by Arndt pulled the Saints to 8-5. Maryville had a 3-1 run capped by a
Taylor Schellert kill to get to 11-9 but the Saints were unable to force a tie.
