What Happened
The Saints fell behind as the Hawks scored the first four points of the opening set. After trailing by eight points, Maryville used a 3-0 burst to cut the QU lead down to 18-13. Ahlhardt started the run, and
Taylor Stirton served an ace. An
Allison Lakin kill closed the burst but the Saints could not get closer. Quincy roared out to a double-digit cushion in set two. Maryville had its best run with a six points in a seven point span.
Cassidy Arndt had three straight kills, and a block by
Taylor Schellert highlighted the run. In the third set, the Saints opened with a 3-0 run. Arndt put down a pass, and Ahlhardt followed with a kill. Arndt notched a service ace to give the Saints the early lead. After Quincy tied the set,
Liz Eardly notched a kill, and a Hawks' error led to a 5-3 edge. The set was tied at 7-7 before the Hawks pulled away to seal the win.
