Ricardo Andrade scored early in the second half to push the Maryville men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Rockhurst Friday afternoon at Maryville Field. The victory for Saints was their first over Rockhurst in series history.
What Happened – The two teams battled to even terms after the first 45 minutes, but the Saints cracked the scoreboard in the 47th minute. Andrade took a pass from
JD Sohn and slotted it into the right side of the net to give the Saints a 1-0 advantage. That is all that the Saints needed as the Maryville defense held the Hawks to only two shots over the last 43 minutes of the contest.
Inside the Numbers – The victory for Maryville was their first over Rockhurst in series history. Both teams finished the match with five shots each. The goal for Andrade was his second of the season.
Christian Kjaersgaard earned his third shutout of the season and his 24
thcareer clean sheet.
