Kirksville, Mo. – The Maryville women's soccer team dropped an overtime thriller to Truman State 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Field in Kirksville, Mo.
What Happened – Alex Johnson put the Saints ahead in the 8
th minute as she collected a pass from
Amanda Kaltwasser and drill a shot from 10-yards out to give Maryville a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs evened the match with a goal in the 20
th minute with a goal off a free kick to put the score at 1-1. The score stayed that way through the end of regulation. Truman State scored the game winner in the 99
th minute with a goal from 5-yards out.
Inside the Numbers – The Saints were outshot 15-9 by the Bulldogs with Maryville putting five shots on frame.
Allison Verville paced the Saints with three shots. Maryville held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. The goal for Johnson was her third on the season.
