Truman State Recap
The Maryville volleyball team made late pushes in each set but Truman State held on each time to defeat the Saints in three sets. The Bulldogs won 25-18, 25-19, 25-14 to claim the Great Lakes Valley Conference contest. The Saints outblocked Truman 7.0 to 5.0 in the contest.
What Happened
The Saints were down early in the opener but scored three straight points.
Faith Ahlhardt had a kill, and
Avery Bell and
Elizabeth Eardly teamed up on a block. A Truman hitting error pulled Maryville to within two points.
A.J. Hallemann had an ace as the Saints trimmed the gap 15-12 but Truman edged back ahead. TSU took an eight-point edge in set two before the Saints climbed back. Maryville had a 4-0 run but Truman scored three straight. The Saints answered with their own 3-0 burst to stay close and eventually used a 5-1 to get to 24-19. Truman finally scored the final point to take a 2-0 lead. In the final set, the Saints trailed 6-4 but jumped ahead with three straight points. However, the visitors took charge with seven straight to end the match.
