St. Louis – Despite a pair of goals by
Braden Johnson, the second-ranked Maryville men's soccer team fell to Lindenwood 4-2 Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
What Happened – The Saints struck first in the fifth minute as Johnson took a pass from
Stian Rebo on a breakaway and slotted a shot from 10-yards out into the lower left corner of the goal to give Maryville a 1-0 lead. The Lions then took control of the match and scored four consecutive goals over the next 37 minutes of play to grab a 4-1 advantage. Johnson scored his second goal of the game in the 85
th minute as he took a deflection from the goalkeeper and found the back of the net from seven yards out to cut the Lindenwood lead to 4-2.
Inside the Numbers – The Saints held a 12-6 advantage in shots with seven of those being on frame.
Mirza Hasecic paced the Maryville attack with four shots while Johnson added three in the contest.

Lindenwood – 5-4-2, 4-3-2 GLVC
