JD Sohn got the 25
th-ranked Maryville University men's soccer team offense going with a pair of goals in the first half to push the Saints to a 3-0 victory over Quincy University Friday afternoon at Maryville Field.
What Happened – Sohn started the scoring for the Saints in the 12
th minute as he collected a pass from
Zulfikar Karimi on left wing and slotted a shot into the lower right corner of the goal to give Maryville a 1-0 lead. Sohn scored his second goal of the day in the 20
th minute when he grabbed a pass from
Dom Riggio on the left wing and once again found the back of the net from four yards out to extend the advantage to 2-0.
Braden Johnson added an insurance goal in the 50
th minute with a goal off a breakaway to put the Saints on top 3-0.
Inside the Numbers – The goal for Johnson was his team-high 10
th of the season. He becomes the first Saint since Alex Neeley in 2006 to score 10 goals in a season.
Max Simonazzi was credited with a save in earning his first career win as a Saint.
