Triple-Double by Kues Powers Saints Past Ohio Valley

Mikaela Kues recorded Maryville's first triple-double since Oct. 1996, as the sophomore finished with 14 kills, 16 assists and 14 digs to power the Saints in the 3-2 victory over Ohio Valley. Set scores were 25-15, 14-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-9. The win gave the Saints a 2-1 record at the 2019 Midwest Crossover Tournament.

Kues keyed the Saints attack in the first set as they posted a .423 hitting percentage with 13 kills and just two errors on 26 swings. The Maryville offense stalled in set two while OVU picked up its pace as the Scots drew even. The Saints returned to their opening set form and powered to the win in set three. However, OVU answered to force a fifth set. The Saints roared out of the gate by scoring the first seven points of the final. OVU tallied five in-a-row to get back into the contest. Kues had a kill to end the Scots run, and OVU committed a hitting error. Faith Ahlhardt pounded down a kill for a 10-5 edge, and Kues served an ace. Cassidy Arndt had a solo stuff block as the lead ballooned to 12-5. The Saints closed out the match for their sixth victory of the season. On top of her triple-double effort, Kues hit .367 in the contest with her 14 kills, on 30 swings and just three miscues.
