St. Louis – The Maryville women's soccer team needed to work overtime as
Alex Johnson scored in the 98th minute to give the Saints a 1-0 win over Truman State Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field.
What Happened – The two teams played to a scoreless tie after the first 45 minutes of play with the Saints having a 55 percent advantage in possession. The second half was again a defensive battle as both teams held each other to only one shot in the half. Johnson scored the winner in the 98th minute as she placed a header into the lower left corner of the goal off a free kick from the top of the 18-yard box to give the Saints the victory.
Stacie Muehling and
Kaetlin Wurdack were credited with assists on the Johnson goal.
Inside the Numbers – The game winner for Johnson was her fifth of the season.
Elyse Waterhouse had a save in the contest en route to her third clean sheet of the season
