Rockhurst Recap
The Maryville volleyballers were looking to hand Rockhurst its first home loss of the season but the Hawks recorded a 25-17, 25-18, 25-13 win in Kansas City, Mo. Elizabeth Eardly hit .421 in the match and finished with a team-high nine kills.
What Happened
The Saints scored three of the first four points of the match and were still up 4-2. The Hawks scored four-in-a-row but Maryville answered with three straight. Rockhurst used a 6-0 run to inch ahead and eventually take the opening set. The Saints had their best hitting percentage of the match in the opening set but could not match the .415 mark by the Hawks.
Maryville tallied the first two points of the second set until the Hawks scored five straight. The Saints stayed close with a 3-1 run but Rockhurst would not let the Saints trim the gap. The Hawks grabbed the early lead in the third set by tallying five straight before the Saints got on the board. Rockhurst used three kills in its next run and took the match.
